Those of you who visit my galleries because you've been involved in a show put on by Lyric Theatre (or to be more precise, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of San Jose) know that with few exceptions, it's been pretty slim pickins around here for a long time. Although most shows might have galleries already built here to hold their photos, those galleries have largely remained empty and desolate.
God willin’ and the creek don’t rise, that’s about to change.
Now, I know I’ve made a claim or two like that in the past, to no result. But for several reasons, I hope to make good this time.
First, a wise man once wrote: “There is nothing so burdensome as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.” Unfortunately for me, that wise man was right! So when the last picture goes up on this site, it’ll be a big load off my mind.
Second, if I keep on leaving those photos unavailable to you, it means you can’t enjoy them. And I took them so they’d be enjoyed, not stay stashed away in some hard drive’s folder.
Third, if I get all these photos online where you can enjoy them, you just might want to buy some prints or downloads for your permanent collection. I admit it, I’d like to get this aspect of my photography to the point where it’s at least paying for itself. But I’ll always try to keep everything very affordable, and if you’re a Lyric person and your circumstances make it impossible to spend even a few dollars to get some pictures for yourself, let me know.
Fourth, I’ve done the the scariest part of the job already: I sat down and made a spreadsheet detailing all the work that’ll go into achieving this. Gulp.
Each time I upload a significant bunch of new pictures, I’ll post an announcement at this blog. And now, to work!
